Abstract: This PhD research aims to investigate the presence and representation of Irish women engaged in the practice of traditional medicine. To accomplish this objective, this present study is considering both narrative behaviours and geographical patterns throughout Ireland. The research is being conducted primarily through the National Folklore Collection (NFC), using a small dataset collected from the DĂșchas project. As it proposes an investigation of a sheer volume of documents; consequently, different methodological approaches are being implemented. The utilisation text mining for a comprehensive analysis, along with Geographic Information System (GIS) methods facilitated by low-code/no-code tools such as the Wave platform, holds the potential to provide historians with valuable support. It can also further contribute to research in digital archives.
